Small and tiny Laptops

I am in the market for a tiny laptop, portability is more important than power. I like the Toshiba R500 and want to know what else out there is like it. I want something that is very light and can be taken with me on planes and other trips with ease. I think Sony has one as well but I am not sure which model it is.

Any recommendations?

I DO NOT WANT A MACBOOK.

What are you wanting to do with it?

I swear it should be a forum rule that anytime someone posts an "I'm looking for a laptop" thread they are required to say how they will be using it. It's useless to recommend models with no idea for how it will be used.

Toshiba's Portege R500 is a nice package, albeit on the pricey side. There are several reviews on it - this one covers the good and bad - and it is mostly good. It looks like a road warrior's dream tool. Apparently not many ultra portables are blessed with an optical drive.

Exactly why I said we'd need to know what he wants to do with it. This could be a viable option.

Stuff like that. It's for being on the road. Most likely some basic DIVX watching, and the rest would be surfing the web, basic picture viewing / editing from my camera, and maybe edit a spreadsheet or two.

The Eee PC looks almost perfect but a 7 inch screen is almost too small, especially since it looks like they wasted so much space around the monitor that could have been used with a bigger screen.

You can save yourself alot of money and get a Sager NP7260.
Cheapest 12.1" laptop you will find.
$679 including an OS.
If you don't like the Celeron, you can upgrade to a CD or C2D and it'll still be less than $900.
Granted it weights more than the R500, but its still is small and its less than half the price.
Plus its a beautiful looking laptop.
NP7260

I been thinking about buying one just for travel but I already have 2 laptops so its a waste.

Typing this on a Lenovo x61s, my first ultraportable and I would never want to go back to a full size laptop again.

I agree, if your going to have a desktop, there is no reason to get a full size laptop, it defeats the purpose
