SM951 (either AHCI or NVMe) SSD and Addionics expansion card

a poster over on Tom's reported he's tested three expansion cards on his ASUS X99 mobo with a samsung sm951 512GB variant (he didn't state AHCI or NVMe), and got lower speeds than with an XP941.

When he installed the SM951 in his mobo's M.2 socket, he got full spec'd speed

curious if anyone here is running a SM951 in an addionics card and had any trouble benchmarking the spec'd transfer speeds?

Maybe that add in card is only wired up to 2 x PCIe 3.0 lanes.. It shouldn't make much difference at all weather installed in a onboard M.2 slot or an adapter as long as they are wired up to 4 x PCIe 3.0 lanes.
