Sluggish Scrolling in Firefox on certain websites

I get sluggish scrolling on certain websites like anandtech and was wondering what causes this? I'm running on a fairly fast system i5-430M with ATI 5830 that has been defragged. Is this common in FIREFOX?

I haven't noticed it myself. Is it when you use the wheel or the scrollbar?
Maybe you need to turn on/off smooth scrolling?

What addons/extensions do you have installed ?
Try running it with nothing but the default install.

Addons for firefox include: AdBlocker, AllinoneGestures, and skype. I enabled Smooth scrolling. This sluggishness occurs randomly. Thanks for your help.

Any page with background images will chug for me in Firefox, especially if zoomed. For the sites I go to repeatedly I block the image with Adblock.

My computer was lagging really hard on certain pages as well. The one thing every page had in common was a fixed background that didn't scroll but a foreground that does scroll.

solution - turn off smooth scrolling.

*go to firefox options
*click the Advanced tab at the top
*click the General tab below
*de-select smooth scrolling
