Sluggish Opengl performance in Win2k pro

I'm currently running the 5.32 reference drivers in win2k, and quake 3 with the compiled dlls. With all the settings in graphics maxed out, I can only pull around 80fps at 640x480 and 800x600 in quake timedemo demo001.dm3. My celeron 2 is running at 637mhz. I've read several reviews online, and it seems as though it should be faster. Any help is appreciated.

Do you really need anything higher than 80 fps? No human could possibly tell the difference once you get past 24, I think.

Actually, I can tell a big differnce between 30 and 60fps. I just want higher fps so it doesn't drop below 60 in big time rocket battles, that's all. Vsynch is off, because my refresh rate is at 60hz and I'm getting about 80fps. I read in some reviews that similar systems to mine were getting 20-30 fps faster than I am.

Couple of questions...
1) Do you have AGP4 enabled? Might give you some boost.
2) Can't compare celerons perf to PIII/Athlon if that's the benchmark you're using. Those sytems are generally barebones installs with an OS, game, & drivers.
3) Do you have everything disabled... virus, etc... might be set to desktop color in drivers (32 bit vs 16)
4) Are you using 16/32 bit color?
5) With settings maxed out you're not going to get much more... take what you have an be happy with it.
6) Using the reg hack to OC card?
7) What speed of RAM are you using?
7) Kick up your resolution and see what you come in at? If it's around the same... you know what the problem is.

1) My board is a 440bx, and only has 2x
2) I compare to celeron2's at 850
3) Everything I can disable is disabled
4) I'm using 32 bit color in game and in windows
5) My framerate isn't bad really, but I just don't want it to go below
60fps
6) I'm not overclocking my card right now, I'll try it out.
7) I have 1 stick of 64mb CAS2 PC-100 and 1 stick of 128mb CAS3 PC-133

I don't think your scores are that off for 32bit color

The scores your comparing to probably have sound disabled and all other components removed from the computers (NIC's, Modems, CDROM etc...)
