If you have a bookstore around, you might want to check it out there. Just go there and read the entire thing. It's generally easy reading. All the logic to apperture, shutter speed, iso and etc will fall into place when you actually start using the camera and taking pictures. It's nice to have a book to confirm or add to your knowledge, but I'm not sure how often you'd read it.
Play with the settings and see how they come out. It is a DIGITAL SLR after all. So you're not wasting film.
I have 2 photography books. Nice photos and hints, but I only read it once. Learning to See Creativity, and Creative Nature and Outdoors photography.
edit: The book you link is a popular recommendation. I just haven't read it so I can't comment on that one.
