Slowly but surely getting there

A few weeks ago I told myself I was gonna start taking college seriously. I've slacked off in college the past 3 semesters and have totally taken advantage of my job and parents money that they used to pay for college.

I've sold my nintendo DS, uninstalled every game I own and am starting to sell my gaming rig piece by piece. I talked to my mom and dad and told them I wanted to pay for college from now on so maybe I will take more thought into now that it's my own money. I'm spoiled and I'm sick of what it has done to me.(not blaming anyone but myself)

Just put the video card up for sale and will be on a gf2 from now on unless I sell my entire rig all together(which I plan to soon) and just be on my 400mhz laptop w/ win2k.

mini cliff notes:
took college for granted
quitting gaming, selling gaming pc in order to afford college since i told my rents i'm paying for it now.

cheers to 2005 i guess

once a slacker, always a slacker 🙂

I'm not a gambling man but wanna bet on that?

I've just decided games can wait, college can't.

and no Fausto I'm gonna double my post just for you😀

DP, I can surely say I relate to you. I'm halfway through my Junior year, and have roughly a 2.8 GPA. I could have a 4.0 if I worked harder, there is nothing stopping me, I've simply been lazy and slacked off. I'm trying to get my grades up this semester too, I wish you the best of luck.

My only problem is I work at a LAN gaming center.. kinda makes the video game thing a challange for me... but I'll manage.

um, i applaud your desire to take college more seriously.
but maybe you are going to extremes here? would it be possible to keep your gaming rig, just use it less often? it seems like you are depriving yourself of something you enjoy. What will you do for recreation? You can't study all the time, you do need to take a break every so often.

Good for you! I went through the same deal when I was in college. It'll turn you into a better person because of this.

The main thing I need right now is the money to goto college. I make roughly 400/week pre-tax and I also have a few grand in two saving accounts but I wanna keep that money there for when I REALLY need it. I have the money right now to afford college but I just wanna show myself and my parents that I can break this habit on my own.

I've thought about getting an xbox this upcoming summer but who knows. I'm not depriving myself where I will be a miserable wreck from not gaming but just showing my parents I can quit the computer thing(because it has really messed things up in the past, it has been an addiction)

Besides, there are to many other things I love to do(females, working out more, hunting, females, soccer) but the computer has taken over all of those hobbies of mine.

I'm not depressed and it's been over a weeks since I've touched a game and have not had one withdraw yet.

Sounds like you've got lots of other interests to keep you occupied without the computer games. 🙂

If you feel this is what you need to be doing, then go for it!

Good luck with all of this. I have the same sort of slacker mentality I'm trying to break from.

Where's your fs/t thread man? I want in on the goods. 🙂

Be strong, DP. 😀 I am too weak to give up gaming but then again I'm out of college!

Good luck in your efforts. I am sure you are as determined as you say and you will succeed.
