Slowest pen drive USB 2.0 ever recorded?

Well, I don't know if it is indeed the slowest, but it certainly seems so.

I decided to run a benchmark on a pen drive that I have to figure out the average write speed. The result was astonishingly. 1.1Mbs of average write speed!

I checked this site: http://usbspeed.nirsoft.net/ and checking the published results, if I didn't skip any result, the slowest result there was of 2.96Mbs, which is approximatelly 2.7 faster than mine!

Then I started to think what could be going on. Could be the benchmark be wrong ?
I don't think so, because it result seems similar to what I experience on day-to-day use.

Could be the a USB1 device? It was bought a couple of months ago, so should be a USB 2.0 device.

Could be just the worst 2.0 pen drive in the world? Possible.

Could it be defective? I think so.

There are any other possibilities? Which of the last two you think it is the most likely?

Thanks for the effort.

USB data runs through your CPU and RAM. If you are using a slow CPU, you will get much slower speeds with the identical drive, than I would get using that same drive. It might be the computer you're using. Then again, it just might be the thumb drive itself. Can you link the drive?

There are a whole bunch of USB Flash Drives that are counterfeit and provide either ridiculous low performance, a bunch of reliability issues, or both. Chances are that yours is a fake.

My wife managed to buy a USB 1.1 hub off ebay recently. Whoever made it was cheeky enough to put a hi-speed USB logo on the usb itself while the piece of paper inside the packet contained the truth.

Maybe the port is running at 1.1? :)

I've had a couple computer cases where the USB ports on the front of the case "went bad", that is, went from USB 2.0 to something less than that(the computer even suggests plugging the device into a high speed USB port). This is due to wear from constant use, none of the other USB ports have this issue.
