I had express package and upgrade to the pro package. The pro package advertised to be 1.5 to 3.0 speeds. Iam getting around 1.3 and paying for the pro package. Shoul I call up sbc? If I did, what could they do.

I'm at a loss then. Only other thing I can think of is the copper you're on just can't handle anything faster.

The sync may have changed but with DSL the redback profile has to be changed as well. Give them time to upgrade the profile as well.

Isn't the speed of the DSL connection directly related to your distance from/to the telephone exchange?

If you're getting 1.3 and they advertise 1.5 to 3.0, I wouldn't be worried. Ask your neighbors what kind of speed they're getting, if you can.

They did up my speed, and my lines can't handle it. Speed was going all over the place, then crashing. They were good at working with me on it, as soon as I told them to knock the speed back down, my problems disappeared. They have worked with me, and I'm fine, for now, with the service.

uh.. internet speeds are all stated as the rated max speed. so I'd assume 1.5-3.0 is the max speed you can see, which is a fancy way of saying you MAY see your top end around 3.0, but expect the top end to be as low as 1.5 at times.
if its not a line problem, you may have simply gotten the short end of the stick. with 1.5 listed as max, 1.3 is good.

First call them, figure out if it is line related or bandwith related. They will be able to tell you right away if it is the line, if it's not the line then they are just getting cheap with bandwith (happens a lot in this industry).

low quality lines + the "speed loss" you always get because packets are not entirely "your" data. but since you can get 1.5 mbps on their cheaper plan, i'd downgrade to it.

heh my DSL premium suppose to be 5mb but I'm getting 7 :) just love downloading 2 files each 400k at same time :) and under $40 a month with taxes. Qwest cust support not that good, but at least dsl service is good, no downtime/problems
