Slowdowns when OC GF4 4400!!!!! Anyone?

Hi all,

I have a PNY GF4-4400. Card runs great, I was able to OC up to 310/685 before seeing some distortions in 3Dmark2001se. But here is the problem: The card runs slower, scores less in 3Dmark2001se at anything above 294/645. Why is that? I know for a fact that once I OC over 295/645 the scores on 3Dmark2001se starting to decrease. Anyone else experiencing this problem?

I know I have no cooling issues since I had a BIG fan blowing at the card. Help!

I experienced the same thing but it fixed itself upon reboot. 310/685 sounds really aggressive to me- if rebooting doesn't fix it maybe back off a bit to 300/650 and see if that helps.

everytime I experiment with OCing a GF card, I see that as I raise speed, 3DMark2001se scores go up.... to a point

beyond that scores begin to decrease and then finally, the card fails (artifacts, kicked out of program, etc.)

I believe this is due to the fact that when you push it too hard, errors begin to occur and data begins to have to

be "read" more than once -> slower overall.

I suggest, you OC to the peak and stop there. (after all, is it max performance or max Hz that you want?)
