Slowdowns during games after smooth play

When I play games for more than 30-45 minutes, they start to slow down to unplayable performance. It happened earlier today with COD4, and just now again with Red Orchestra. They play fine and smooth for awhile, then all of a sudden they run at 1-2 fps. They run slow in the menus too; it's not just in-game. I'm thinking it could be a memory leak, but with more than 1 game? And I looked; no more than 2.5gb of memory is in use and I have 4gb. Anyone have any ideas?
