Slow wireless with WRT54G 1.1?

I just got a new lappy ( e1505 with intel pro wireless) and it seems my speeds reallt suck. im running G and im right next to the router. My connection is 12mbs and im only getting around 5mbs. Im also using the DD-WRT


Any ideas?

Are you using any P2P programs? It's known that the WRT54g's default firmware causes slow download speeds with P2P.

Im also using DD-WRT firmware

Seems in speed tests i get 8mbs but when im downloading something off any site it maxs at 439kbs. whats the deal?

I would start by removing variables, try a local file transfer, try a wired connection, etc. until you see what the weak link is.

Also I would ask questions on a support forum specific to your device.

change channels to 1, 6 or 11.

also if you have any B clients it will slow everything down.
