slow wireless router connection

I have a PC wired and a notebook 802.11g

when i connect my PC through the wireless router the speed is very slow.
like 5kb to 8kb max

but when i put my pc back to my adsl, the speed back to 60 to 70kb.

why is this? am i setting the security too high?(64bit encrypted)
or anything i am missing?

I am using Level One 3406TX

Security doesn't slow down a connection much (trust me, I test speeds using 64/128 open, 64/128 LEAP, open none, etc). If you have slow speeds, it's something else, or crappy cheap hardware. I would a) turn of security, you might have craptastic H/W (doubtfull) and then b) troubleshoot your connection for slow speeds/interference.

ALso, when posting a question, some basic stuff is good, such as client adapter, router, etc.

I'll post the normal "try channels 1, 6 or 11" on the AP and see which one works best.

Most wireless troubles (performance, spotty connectivity) are interferrence or low signal strength.
