slow wireless internet for 1 out of 2 laptops

weird...i have a netgear router and one laptop connects to it all the time and gets blazing fast internet. The other...not so much. Disconnects frequently and is INCREDIBLY slow browsing.

Here's what I thought of so far:

1. interference. i live in an apt building and there are 50 other wireless networks nearby. i want to install netstumbler and see what channels are least used. i think 6 and 11 are blasted. how is 1?

2. i want to put both laptop RIGHT next to eachother and make sure it's not location based

3. give the laptop that has the speed/connectivity issues a static IP.

Any other suggestions/thoughts?

Also try swapping adapters, it could be one of your adapters is bad, or just doesn't have as good of an antenna.
