I'm having a weird problem with Win2k. The initial bootup is fine, but when I reboot the machine, I noticed that it takes a long time for the gui to finish loading. Everything comes up normally, but if I click the Start button, nothing happens for a good 45-60 seconds. The button just stays depressed and finally responds after about a minute. I initially thought it had something to do with my NIC card because it took that long for the "network cable unplugged" icon to show up in the system tray. So I unplugged the NIC card from my other machine and had no problem. This does not occur with Win98SE or WinXP Pro. I did clean installs of all the OSes and only installed drivers, no apps. My system specs are (no snickering, it's just something I beat up on until I can afford to build an nice Atlhon XP machine.):
Asus P3V4X
Intel PIII 800EB (not overclocked)
3 Maxtor 5400RPM ATA100 drives on a Romtec Trios
Visiontek GeForce3 Ti200
Linksys NIC
Sound Blaster 16PCI
ADS USB Card
SMC 2662 Wireless USB Adapter
Any ideas why this is happening?
