Slow streaming video on "new" comp

I just built a HTPC out of a 1.8ghz Dell Optiplex with XP pro and everything is running smooth but when I went to a few steaming websites (stupidvideos, break.com etc..) it would sit at "connecting" for a good 2 mins before playing vids, I can go to my main computer and it will connect and buffer right away.
I tried connecting directly to my cable modem to see if it was my router with the same results.

This box:
1.8 P4
512 DDR
120gb drive
XP pro
Kapersky AV
WinXP firewall

Thanks

Which application is used to play the movies? (are they flash, or does the WMP window open in the browser?) Are you using the same player for your desktop and htpc? Also make sure that under the network tab in WMP you have the appropriate amount of buffer set (for fast connections I normally recommend 5-15 seconds)

Churchy sighting alert!! Long time no see🙂
If you are looking for cool features, try getting a tv tuner card that is supported in mythtv, and build a myth box. Tivo-like recording and music, pictures.
