When I installed windows it started up pretty quickly but now that I have a few programs installed it takes at least 3 or 4 minutes. The screen goes black for a while then I see a blank desktop and finally everything loads. I did a bootvis optimization but that didn't help. I have a sata 2 western digital 250gb drive and 2gb of corsair ram. Any ideas? Thanks.

What programs did you install on the machine? There are serveral progams/setting with programs than can cause a system to slow down (i.e. symantec av, google desktop ...)
Also make sure your video driver is installed.

its probably whatever you installed. list them out so we can say which is it.. did anything add a bunch of network protocols or something like netware? i seen an xp computer take that long due to it having virtually every protocol installed on it, like ones that aren't even easy to install and must be done manually...
