SLOW speeds with wireless network!!!

I just bought a DLINK AirPlusXTremeG DI-624 router. I have a fully 802.11b network with 11mb usb dlink cards. Before, in adhoc mode i could get at least 500 kbps from no matter where i was. Now, i have my computers sitting side by side and i cant download faster than 100kbps. When i connect via ETHERNET from the router i get the full 500 kbps. What settings are wrong or is this router messed up? I ahve everything on the router set to fully auto detect i dont know whats up.

When you say adhoc mode, do you mean before the addition of the DLink router, or after but then you can only get 100kbps in Infrastructure mode?

I had them in adhoc before i got the router. Now i changed them to infrastructure, and get pathetic speeds no matter what distance.

Fixed my problem. Returned this POS DLINK, and bought the Netgear MR814 router and got $50 back. Everything works perfectly now.
