Slow speeds with Serv-u and SSL

I want to run an encrypted FTP server using SSL but for somereason when I have the SSL stuff enable people get really slow transfer rates. When I turn all the SSL stuff off, it works fine. I am running it on windows XP. my computer is a 1.4 ghz athlon with 512megs of SDram.

SSL adds a lot of overhead, you'll have to be more specific about what is "really slow".

when it is off I get at least 100k/s when it is on, I can only send around 15k/s

Did you check the client and server CPU usage, see if either is taxed?

they are fine. It spikes at about 10%

Hmm, I use the latest Serv-U 4 with both explicit and implicit SSL and we have absolutely no slowdowns.
