slow speeds with comcast

last i checked we had the 3mbps download comcast speed. we went away for a week and came back and now its slow (1.1mbps through broadbandreports.com speed test). did comcast downgrade or something? im getting terrible pings to my games. i tried resetting the router and cable modem but its the same.
 
Bypass the router and connect to modem (router is the 1st thing they'll blame on). If it's still slow at different time throughout the day, ask your neighbors, if they also experience the same thing, call Comcast and mention the neighbors. They probably oversubscribed your area.

or, they're doing some sort of maintanance in the area. Wait a day or two; see if it gets back normal.
