slow ripping speeds with liteon 40x12x48

ive got a liteon 40x12x48 (ltr-40125s) .. im getting really bad ripping speeds on it.

the drives set as secondary master, and is running in udma mode 2.. im ripping with eac.. i've got a creative 52x as secondary slave, udma mode 2, and ripping with it is a lot faster.. does anyone have any suggestions?

Have you checked the EAC options? Under EAC>Drive Options, there should be three choices for ripping: Secure, Fast, and Burst. Secure will give you the most accurate rip, albeit at the expense of speed (I generally get 10x max in this mode). Burst is the inverse of Secure.

it was in secure.. even in fast though, it starts off about 5x, by the third track its around 2x.. the cds brand new too..

what about aspi drivers? do they do any good? 😛 the aspichk thing said i didn't have any (under xp) so i installed the ones for xp from adaptec's site, they dont seem to have done squat though 😛

I've never had to install an ASPI layer in WinXP. My understanding is that there is a "pseudo" ASPI built into WinXP, and EAC is well written enough to access the system-level routines it needs.

You say fast mode is still pretty slow, which I would expect, despite the name. Burst is the fastest mode, have you tried that?

yea, that was the speed i was looking for .. im getting about 10x at the start of the cd, and 19x at the end.. 🙂

thanks
