Slow ripping in dvdshrink. Windows 2000. DMA enabled ? What else to check ?

I have two very similar PC's, bother Athlon64, both 1 gig memory, both Liton DVD drives. One rips in about 28 minutes, and the other in an hour !!!! Swapped three different DVD drives, and no change. What am I missing ?

try dvd decrypter to pull off the files...then open them in dvd shrink

see if it's the same time

No, there is something different in the two installs, and I am trying to figure it out. They are so close to each other (different motherboard is about it) but the slow one is actually a faster CPU !!!! Something must be configured wrong, and I want to find it ! Virtually the same software also !

yes....I'm saying try another piece of software to eliminate that as a cause. make sure the reading speed is set to the same on both machines.

are both computer's ide controllers reporting the same DMA mode?

do you have the dvd drive on the primary or secondary ide? separate or sharing with another hard drive / cd/dvd drive? (same on both machines?)

any drivers / bios updates available for the slower mb?

OK, I found it. The stupid thing was set to PIO mode ! I had forgotten about that setting, thanks for the reminder. I have NEVER had it do that to me during a scratch install !
