slow ram

hi,

i've just received all the parts i need for my new computer. i put it all together, and it worked nicely, but things don't load nearly as quickly as i had expected. games and operating systems (XP & ubuntu) aren't too quick to load (although it isn't unbearable, i expected faster). i ran memtest86+, and it said this:
RAM: 200 MHz (DDR401) / Cas: 7-1-7 / Daul Channel 128 bits
now, look at the ram i got (it was $92 when i ordered it, hehe) and you'll see what i'm getting obviously doesn't match up.

so i did some research, and read something about the FSB of the CPU limiting the speed of the RAM. the overclock settings for the CPU was set to "auto", which apparently used a FSB speed of 200 and a multiplier of x13. (btw: i've got an amd athlon 64 x2 5200+) so i changed this, i was able to get to 216x13 before the POST would fail. i changed the multiplier to x5, and i was able to get the FSB to 260. so with the FSB at 260 (and the multiplier at a slow x5), i ran memtest86+, and it reported that the ram was faster (if i remember correctly it said it was running at 260 MHz (DDR 520) ?). i wasn't able to get the FSB above 260, even with the multiplier at the lowest settings of x5.

obviously i don't want to use a very slow processor (due to overclocking), and i also want my ram to run at the highest speed possible. does anyone have suggestions for fixing this (increasing the performance of my RAM)?

thanks!
