I have an issue with slow printing via when printing from rdp sessions.
We have several locations that connect to the servers via VPN, we have one database server (Win 2008) and one terminal server (Win 2003). All the locations connect to the servers program via rdp sessions.
Whenever a printjob is sent to one of the printers is takes a long time to print. Sometimes it takes 2 minutes, other times it can take almost 5 minutes.
• Tested printers on local machine - printed promptly
• Tested printing to printer from another LAN computer at each location - printed promptly
• The VPN stays up, and the connection speed is good enough to connect 35+ rdp sessions (dropping connection hasn't improved print speed)
The printers we are using are thermal receipts printers (use generic drivers), HP LaserJet1020, HP1002w, HP2015 & HP3015.
I suspect the problem is a printer driver conflict. One of the office ladies tried to install a HP Laserjet 3650 :\ (from Win98) on the servers. I suspect that wasn't the first printer she tried to install herself.
What is the best way to pinpoint the problem? I thought about reinstalling all the printers again, but i first need to figure out how to clear out any conflicting drivers. (if a driver conflict is the cause for the delay.
Thank you for any input.
