Slow performance of CS under wine in linux. Plz help!

Hey all, i just FINALLY got half life to work under wine, but it is unbearably slow. ~50 FPS with dips to 5! while in windoze id get a constant 99. I heard that there was no performance loss but theres tons.

There is aguy at transgaming forums taht say to do this: "For video, try running glxinfo and look for the OpenGL version string. If it doesn't say "1.3.1 NVIDIA 28.80", then you don't have it installed properly. ".

I did it, and it says 1.2 for the opengl string so im guessing this. But i do get the NVIDIA splash screen on startup of X. Yes i did change the nvidia driver.

For the installation i did it off teh source and did rpm --rebuild. Rpm -ivh NVIDIA kernel. Then rm --rebuild nvidia GLX. rpm -ivh NVIDIA_GLX. This is for the 2880 btw.

So any ideas on how to get the FPS up? RH 7.2 w/ 2.4.18 kernel.

Also, is there anyway to get 4 point surround or am i stuck with basically multisampling?

Thanks

*btw im using the transgaming winex CVS
