OK, I think this MAY be a common problem, but this variation of the problem may be cureable, so I'll take a shot.
I have a little network going in my home (only 2 comps for now). Now, on one computer, whenever you have to view the whole network for tasks such as adding printers, seeing users connected, etc., you can click on the "Mshome" button in "Browse" windows or "View Workgroup Computers" in My Network Places. If you do so on one computer, all connected computers appear immediately, with no lag or slowdown. However, on another computer, you sit and stare for about 2 minutes everytime you try to view all the workgroup computers from ANY type of window. Also, the one computer that works correctly boots quickly. However, the other will only boot quickly if you disable the network and reboot. If the network is left enabled, you stare at the "welcome" screen for WinXP for about 2 minutes before it proceeds as normal.
I know some problems like this are common and are just accepted. Any way to possibly cure either of them? Sorry if I am not detailed enough - it's late, so my description and spellllink skills are asleep.
