Slow on startup

This is rather odd.

I just switched to Vista, which was mandatory for a condition I couldn't fix. And now the computer starts up very slow, which is unusual.

My Rig:
4 GBs of Ram
Intel Core 2 Duo CPU- 2.66 GHz (2 CPUs), 2.7 GHz
Gigabyte Tech Mobo
8800 GTS Geforce Nvida video card

It takes at least 6-8 minutes to load. Unusual?

Yes, that is basicly my machine and it boots in under a min.

If you want help you need to provide more detail. You switched from what XP? What version of XP? To what version of Vista? 32\64 bit? Did you do an upgrade install or a fresh install?

What troubleshooting steps did you perform? Did you install all of your drivers?

The Kub is right, we need more information if we are to help you properly!
I suspect drivers too. Check Control Panel>Classic View>Problem Reports and Solutions to see if it brings NVIDIA up. I had a similar issue due to faulty ATI drivers.
You may also want to disable as many startup programs/services as possible, starting with the widget bar on the right hand side of the screen. There are a number of ways of doing this, my personal choice would be to DL and run Spybot: Search and Destroy, and use the Advanced Tools>System Startup, then untick anything you dont need critically on startup.

Superfetch could possibly compound this issue, try disabling it in Services.msc
It may also be worth running dxdiag to check all your hardware is running correctly (this never picked up a problem for me but it has been recommended before, it may bring driver issues to light).

I had XP service pack 2, upgraded to service pack 3 so I could play GTA but that wasn't entirely the case.

I got to be able to install a new driver for my processor by checking the Problem Reports and Solutions menu. Nvidia didn't show up. Is that a bad sign?
