Slow network login with XP Pro

I'm running a 2k server here at home. I have one at work too and it runs fine but I only have win2k clients access it at work. Anyway here at home I setup a xp pro system to login to the domain here and it has a user account/computer account, and all patches from windows update. I'm also on a static ip. The problem is when I go to log in it sits at the loading personal settings screen for literally about 4 mins before actually logging into the network. Once I actually log in I can browse the domain well enough, but the actual log in times are batty.

Anyone have any ideas?

Actually I resolved this, came from reading up in the networking forum. My DNS services on the server were borked, I redid all my settings for that and now it works just fine, so ... check out DNS.

Hmm.....I don't have DNS running at all....

Did you try to disable offline files? That fixed the slow login, etc. for me.
