Slow Menu in Windows Explorer WinXP

When I click on some folders (with rather large listings like my Drivers folder) it take 3 to 4 seconds to list all the SubFolders. This is only happening in WinXP, but not in WIn98SE on the same machine? Any ideas as to how to speed this up or if there is some sort of problem?
