Slow loging-on in Win2K!

It takes about a whole minute just to log a user on! And I am not talking about the boot process, but only after you enter a user name and a password to log-on. After I enter my password the Start Bar apears, the backround changes to black (which is the backround I have chosen) and then I wait for about a minute until the whole desktop is loaded. It never used to take this long ... it's a matter of a few seconds on my brother's PC.

Thanx in advance

Need some info. What kind of network are you running. If you are running TCP/IP and IPX/SPX, and are trying to login with a Win2k machine that is only running IPX/SPX, then you will get really slow logins. It will function, but the login will be very slow, and internet browsing should not work.

I don't really understand what you are saying, but I will try to answer your question. I have a LAN with 2PC's that connect using 2 NICs. That's it. I don't have a modem on this PC since I use the other one and share the connection through the LAN.

Also what software are you running? you could have a program that is loading when you satrt Windows that is slowing you down
