Slow Linksys router

My Linksys router seems to have slowed up on LAN data recently. I moved a 500 meg file from one computer to another, and it took 8 minutes, 40 seconds, which by my calculations is a little less than 1MB per second. According to tests I've seen (Practically Networked), it should be at least 4 times that. I'm using 1.8.2 firmware, which is fairly recent. The cables are fine and short - the Linksys lights show connection at 100.

Any ideas what may be causing a slowdown?

What kind of NIC cards are you using? 10/100?

Are you running any protocols that might be slowing your network down? Like IPX?

Cabling is another thing. I have found by using CAT5e cables, my network runs very very fast. Some older network cabling might be the issue. I would try replacing your cables to see if that makes a difference.

Netgear card in one, 3Com in the other, both 10/100. I haven't made any cabling changes, but I'm pretty sure I'm using regular Cat5, not Cat5e. Could that make a difference?
