Ive been having problems with slow internet from my local cable company "charter" for about a month now. I keep calling them but all they ever do is open a ticket and wait for it to close they are supposed to close in like 4 days. I had a ticket open for about 20 days and than one day when i called they said I got a DMCA violation. I was wondering is it possible they are slowing me down for a reason or maybe someone else is watching what I am doing? probably not likely... The werd thing is it's only at certain times in the morning and at later at night like late is when my ping goes back to normal I have also noticed it's going thru the level 3 LA and keeps spiking up.

edit: I forgot to mention They send one of there "techs" out to check it out they didn't find anything but he did come in the morning when I do get good speeds. all he did was run a few speed tests and check out the hdtv cable box and said it was fine. They said he was supposed to check signals but he didnt touch the modem they said he could of done it from a pole outside.

Your pings are not so terrible.

Most Broadband providers obligate them self in terms of Bandwidth and Not pings.

What to you get as bandwidth (i.e. real download of lager file from a fast server)?

It changes but i'd say a spike up to 200 or so is pretty bad it should be no higher than 20 really.

It changes alot but I just got 1.2mbps when I am supposed to get 3mbps. Even a constant 1.2mbps wouldnt be bad I am getting packet loss and slow travel to the servers.

ping and trace route on chicago ip
