Slow Intel 520 Performace (enable ACHI MacBook Pro?)

Just put a 180GB Intel 520 into a new MacBook Pro. Performace seems lower than average. Was thinking it was a Sata3 6gbps issue, but looks like it is enabled.

Any thoughts?

Edit: appears this is an issue with ACHI not being enabled on a Mac Book Pro. I am only running Windows 7 (no OSX partition) with Boot Camp drivers.

You don't have AHCI mode enabled.

in AS SSD it should say msahci instead of pcide.

Find a tutorial on fixing that.

Actually, doesn't look like this will work for me.

I only have Windows 7 installed (no OSX partition)...

Anyone have experience with this?

To resolve this issue yourself, enable the AHCI driver in the registry before you change the SATA mode of the boot drive. To do this, follow these steps:
Exit all Windows-based programs.
Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
If you receive the User Account Control dialog box, click Continue.
Locate and then click one of the following registry subkeys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Msahci
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\IastorV
In the right pane, right-click Start in the Name column, and then click Modify.
In the Value data box, type 0, and then click OK.
On the File menu, click Exit to close Registry Editor.

Then change the sata type in your macs bios.

Problem is that Mac doesn't have a BIOS.

Some people are able to fix this by manipulating the MBR, but they have OSX installed.

use an external fw800 hdd with lion on it and you can boot with your finger on the option key it will let you pick boot drive. pick the lion external as your osx. this may work. you may be able to enable achi. IIRC there is a thread on mac rumors someone did it with his mac mini and a ocz sata III drive.
