Slow HDD Transfers in Vista

I'm transferring 30gb files at a time from Rig 1 to Rig 2 & the fastest transfer rate I'm seeing is about 11 mb/s. Shouldn't these be in the 40 - 60mb/s range?

I searched these forums & didn't find specific answers, so I decided to start a new thread. I've done the Regedit & changed the value to 50 on both machines. I've also disabled the Windows Search option & Remote Differential Compression.

I've also tried different ports on the router & had the same slow ass results.

So now I turn to you guys to look for additional troubleshooting ideas that I haven't tried yet.

Do both computers and the router support gigabit Ethernet? Are you using wifi? Anything else we might want to know. :E

MB/s or Mb/s

MB/s = Megabytes per second
Mb/s = Megabits per second

11 MB/s is about right for a 100Mb network connection.

If you're on a 100mbps network, that's normal.

If not, were you playing any media files when the transfer was taking place?
It may sound odd, but if you're even playing mp3 files, network speed can go down.
