I tested my hard drive (IBM Deskstar 75GXP 45GB) on SiSoft Sandra, and I got a rating of around 17000. I don't think this it right, and I'm running win2k, so is there a way to speed it up. My computer specs are in my rig.

If this is correct, then just let me know, and you guys can stop responding, thx.

Under 'Device Manager' go to the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers and check the properties on the channel that your hard drive is on, Then under the advanced setting tab, go to transfer mode and set it to 'DMA if available'.

Sisoft doesnt properly benchamrk under win2k. my ide raid gets like 28000 on it where it gets 43000 under me. Try a program like ATTO to get accurate results

Heh, odd, did the DMA thing, and still getting 17000 and tried a second time and got 19000, so I guess SiSoft is bugged. I guess i'll try the other program, unless u got better suggestions.

Well, now it seems a lot faster, .ASF files, don't need to load anymore when moving sections, so I guess all is good.
