I've always thought my hard drive was a little slow so i decided to test it with HDTune. These are the results that i got which seem to be pretty poor. Screenshot It also says that its in UDMA mode 2 (33mBps( while it says its capable of udma mode 5 (100mBps). Can anyone tell me how to change the udma mode or if that is my problem. Thanks.

The drive is a Western Digital 80 gig by the way.

I've got open windows in the background like IE Windows and a few other things but nothing too intensive. I've got another drive on the same channel that is getting around 60 mBps so i dont think it has to do with the background processes.

Remove both IDE devices in Task Manager. Reboot PC and enter BIOS. Verify that HDD is set to AUTO detect and running in DMA mode. Save and exit. Go back to Task Manager and verify that HDD is running in DMA mode 4 or 5. DO NOT use any NVIDIA IDE driver.

I uninstalled the drivers...here are the ones circled that i uninstalled. Picture I also checked the BIOS and the drive it set to auto, but where it shows the dma mode, it shows as 2 and its greyed out as well not allowing me to change it. I also changed it from auto where i could change it to dma mode 5 but that didn't do anything once i checked in the device manager.

Thanks for the help, this is really frustrating me.

Is the drive properly jumpered? Can to move the drive to the other three IDE channels? Have you removed the battery to clear CMOS?

I didn't put a jumper on the drive because in the picture, it says to no jumper means master or single drive. The second drive on the channel is jumpered as cable select and its on the second connector. I also took out the cmos battery and cleared that. Still the same slow speeds.

Any other suggestions?? Thanks

Have you moved the drive to another IDE channel? Have you replaced with new IDE cable? Short of wiping out the OS and/or trying another HDD, I can't explain why your BIOS is stuck at DMA mode 2.
