Slow FTP / HTTP Downloads on DSL Connection

Hi guys, I am running on a 3Mbps/368Kbps Verizon West DSL line. I have a Westell Modem 2100, and is connected to a Linksys WRT54G Router. I have 2 computers, see my rig sig below, and I have the desktop set as the DMZ.

My DSL is fine from what I could see, Im about 3000 feet from a Verizon Telephone Switch Building, and my internal phone wiring from Modem is 50 feet to phone jack. And my CAT5 connection is fine. I have the router side by side to the modem. But I do not see any reason for interferece.

Iam having problems with only FTP downloads, everything else runs great, games has low latency, bittorrent runs at around 60 to 300 KB/s, websurfing is great, but when it comes to FTP downloading, the speed is HORRIBLE, it would start at around 100 and then drop down to 40KB/s. I look at both the WRT54G and DSL modem lights, like it would blink normally, then theres this 1 second pause in which it doesnt blink, and that consists of a pattern.

I know it is not the server limiting, cause I tried major websites like nVidia, and etc, and still same thing. What exactly is the problem? I am welcome to any suggestions.

However, I know for a fact that my router is not the problem because I connected my desktop to the DSL router and same thing. What config is wrong?

Here are some things that could help you out answer my question.
Tried tools in dslreports.com, and found no problems,
FTP ports are opened, and Network card is set at 100MB Full Duplex
No packet loss at all.
MTU is set to an optimal 1492 I believe.

Im not sure if telephone wiring is the problem? I had Verizon DSL a year ago, and my FTP download was consistenly 150Kb/s...however I am using a different phone jack now.

Any suggestions? Hardware or Software suggestions welcome!

Thanks in Advance

Just for giggle lower your MTU to 1300.

That would elminate any fragmentation problems.

Also, call the provider. They may be limiting large downloads. But you are on the right track - elminate any and all home networking for troubeshooting by plugging the comp directly into the service.

Thanks spidey07

But I found out that the problem is my integrated realtek lan card. Because I tried a netgear gigabit lan card and runs smoothly, so does anybody know how to uninstall drivers for the integrated lan? Or is there firmware to flash it? cause I installed the new drivers for it and still same thing

Although the temporary solution is to use the giagbit network card, but that means that PCI slot is used.
