Slow drain, recommend me a good drain cleaner

So, my wife has long hair that loves to end up down the shower drain. I have to purge that thing about every 2 months. The industrial strength stuff I normally use isn't cutting it any longer. Do you have a product that totally works every time?

We live in an old house and for some reason the trap under the bathroom floor gets clogged every so often. We've tried everything from lye to stuff only plumbers can buy. None of it works. We had to have the landlord come out and use compressed air because the snake couldn't get around the pipes. good luck.

a drain snake
NEVER use chemicals to clean a drain ESPECIALLY old pipes. If you do you can kiss your pipes goodbye... but I guess that eliminates the clog too.

We had a pretty bad clog a few weeks back, they snaked the pipes and everything is working now. They recommended a non-acidic chemical that was supposely safe for the pipes ... hope you're referring to the drano type chemicals.

yes I am.
But even every plumber I talk to always says "snake first... its the best bar none"
well maybe not those words, but thats the jist

..I use a Liquid Plumber product costco sells but it's like drugs. once ya start ya can't stop. My drains are all druggies now.

My pipes suck too.

I'm talking my PLUMBING pipes here.

I've dumped several types of drain cleaner, to no lasting effect.

Snake FTW!

It's not the matter that the snake actually works, its the fact that the checmicals will eat the crap our of the pipes themselves

I tried a snake one time and ended up busting the pipe that way...

Do you guys rent or buy the snakes? Renting costs about $12/hr and I heard our neighbor pipes clog every 1-2yrs. or so ... our fingers our crossed that we don't have to call the plumber for another 2yrs. for some reason I doubt that ... darn all the greasy food we cook.
