Slow dragging?

I just reinstalled Win XP, and everything is running fine but when I drag stuff there is sort of a lag or delay; it's no longer smooth. Anyone know what would cause this?
 
I dunno about winXP but in win2k right click on the desktop select the effects tab, and deselect the check box marked "Show window contents while dragging". This will speed up dragging.
