First of all never had this problem before between these two computers for one year.... Ok, both computers have WinXP Pro. My cable modem is the new Linksys cable modem and my router is the Linksys BEFSR41 (latest Firmware). What happens is when both computers are logged onto Unreal Tournament Servers, or TacOps, my ping goes from 80 to like 400 on both computers. All I have to do is turn one off and the ping goes back to normal. Once again I have never had this problem before. Just all of a sudden this started happening after using the XP tweak guide(Part 2) on TWEAKTOWNS website. Please help and if you need more info just LMK..... Thanks

Ping latency is not the same thing as download speed. Please clarify that what you mean by "ping time" is that you're logged into someone's game server, and thats what it reports back? What game? Also, check Linksys website to verify that you have the latest firmware on your box. If all else fails, you can contact their tech support to see if they've tested with that same game.

Cable Internet shares its bandwidth among all stations connected. Each one reduces the overall speed of the others slightly. That is why cable in large urban areas is not as fast consistently as DSL, which is subscriber independent.
