I bought a used Lenovo Thinkad Edge E40 (also known as Edge 14).

The fan is always on 100% and both Cores show 36C in SpeedFan.
There are no settings in the BIOS to limit it.
Apparently Lenovo's Power Manager software can slow down or speed up the fan on some models, but I have the latest version and it doesn't do anything.

There is a 3rd party freeware program called TPFanControl, but it doesn't appear to work with my model. It works for 1sec., then the computer overrides the commands I send to it. If I set it to 30%, it goes to 30% for 1 sec, then immediately goes back to 100%.

I have tried Speedfan and Everest, but neither recognize my fans... just the CPU temps.

It is very loud and annoying.

Any of you guys have thoughts on other programs that might work?
Thanks!

How about a script that calls TPFanControl once per second in an endless loop?

Are you running Windows? What happens if you go into Control Panel -> Power Options and switch the Power Scheme to "Max Battery"? You might have to change the setting from your admin account.

I tried the Max Battery Power Scheme. It dims the display, but the fan speed stays the same.
Lenovo's Power Manager overrides Windows' power scheme, but I have tried it with and without the Lenovo software installed.
