Slow Call of Duty U.O performance w/ mobility radeon 9700 128mb.

I just played call of duty united offensive on my laptop. My laptop is configured as:

Intel 1300mhz pentium M
ati mobility 9700 128mb w/ catalyst 4.8
512mb pc2700

The performance can get pretty laggy at times. I tried several resolutions and it can't compare to my desktop geforce 4 ti4600 w/ athlon 2.2ghz. I would figure that a ati mobility 9700 (similiar to 9600 XT) would be on par or better than a geforce 4 ti 4600. Any suggestions? Thanks.

the mobility radeon will have similar performance to the ti4600 but the 1.3mhz chip is much slower than that 2.2gig athlon and that is why your rig is suffering and having slow performance.

Actually no. The Pentium M series 1.3GHz offers performance equivalent to a 2.6GHz standard desktop Pentium 4 processor. Its a different architecture so don't be fooled by its lower clockspeed.

A Radeon Mobility 9700 is actually a mobile version of the 4 pipe 9600 IIRC. So dont look for greater performance than a 9600 and nowhere near a desktop 9700.

Yep, its like a 9600Pro, so you should adjust your expectations accordingly. Its still decent for a mobile part, but not really comparable to the desktop nomenclature. Now the mobile 9800 is supposed to be the real deal.
