slow boot?

Horsepower

Senior member
Just put together a P4 2.8 on a D845PEBT2 last night, and it seems to start much slower then my P4 2.0 on D850MV. It was late so I was just booting to a floppy. I have SATA disabled, rapid boot enabled, and the splash screen off. Any suggestions or comments appreciated.

Hard drive speed.

Looking for NIC response on LAN.

Waiting for USB DSL modem to respond and power up.

Disabled L1, L2 cache.

Slow RAM bandwidth.

Video driver compatability problem.

Install updated Intel chipset drivers.

Check BIOS settings slowly.

HDD set to use PIO mode.

CPU running too hot.

IRQ conflicts.

It's probably a NIC or an on-board device that isn't being used/is not connected to anything.

it also could be HDD speed (unless there is a long pause with no acrtivity, in which case, it is the above)
