SLOW 72X Kenwood drive...

geno

Lifer
Like the title says - it's pretty slow. It took me over a minute to copy 48MBs. I just bought it about a week ago - I have the latest firmware as well. What gives? Any ideas??

EDIT - also, ripping MP3s is just as slow as it was with my 32X MAX drive (around 5.4X) - Using Win98SE

Make sure "DMA" is enabled for you're cd-drive. Enabling "sync data trnasfer" might help too.

These setteing can be found by right clicking on my computer to ge tto the system propeties. Go to Device manager. Look for your cd drive and click on it to get to it's own properties.

DMA was enabled, Sync data was not - I tried it with sync set to on, and it's no better. 🙁

Still though, I'm getting the same transfer rates I was getting with my 32X drive - shouldn't I see some improvement at least?
