Slow 2D-Speed under Windows since changing K7M w/ Athlon 600 to A7V w/ T-Bird 900

Hi!

My problem is that 2d graphics representation in windows is too slow.
After changing my K7M w/ Athlon 600 to A7V w/ T-Bird 900, graphics
representation under windows is drastically reduced. I.e. if I open
e.g. two browser-windows and want to change between them, i notice
that there is a delay between clicking on the task in the task border
and opening the task to a windows. Also scrolling goes sometimes
quite slowly, it gives the feeling that my graphics-card does not
come afterward. I find this quite strange, because with the exchange
only board and cpu changed. The Athlon 600 hasn't these problems,
there all that could be done faster, with the SAME Elsa Erazor III.
Drivers aren't the problem, have tested almost all versions. By the
way I'm using an Asus A7V 1.02, before I had a K7M 1.04. It's the same
problem under Windows98 and 2000 SP1. Same with IE5.5 and Netscape.
The more highly the color-depth of shade, the more slowly becomes
everything. @ work we have K6/2 500 and they perform absolutely well
with 32 bit color-depth. But my 900 Athlon becomes slowly in only
16 bit, too. Hardware works correct, benchmarks reporting the correct
performance for an Athlon 900.
and yes: i did a clean install of windows 2000 and 98 after chaning
board & CPU. also all VIA drivers are installed.

This is my config:

Asus A7V 1.02 w/ Bios 1004D (testet with all versions)
Thunderbird 900 MHz @ 900 MHz , temp 31-45°C
256MByte PC-100 2-2-2 SDRAM by T&Tech
Elsa Erazor III Video w/ 6.31 reference drivers
Adaptec AHA2940U2W SCSI controller
Quantum Atlas IV 9,1 + Quantum Atlas V 9,1
Pioneer DVD 303S-A SCSI DVD ROM
Plextor PX-R 412Ci CD Writer
Hauppauge WinTV Go!
AVM Fritz! Card PCI
Creative Labs Soundblaster Live! Player 1024
Leadman 400W power supply

thanx,
michael.

Try using a release or two older than the newest drivers for your vid card. Sometime certain new (or old for that matter) vid card drivers don't work well with some hardware.

In other words, try using some older drivers.
