Trying to build the most stable system ever. =)
Using an Aopen AX6BC Pro Gold Board and
Coppermine CPU..
What Slotket should I buy to achieve my goal?
Have any other suggestions?

Actually, I don't know why I'd want a Coppermine over a older PIII; maybe explain this too if you feel like enlightening me.

Thanks,
Jason

why wouldn't you want a coppermine? THey're faster clock for clock than Katmai P3's, and run cooler to boot. And o/c better. And the cost difference is negligible right now.

Oh, and to answer your question, I would go with either the IWill Slocket II or Abit's Slocket. Both of those are excellent.

Now listen up ... :)

If possible get the same brand slotket as your mobo and read this:
http://support.intel.com/support/processors/pentiumiii/ssalist.htm

Unfortunately there's no approved AOpen slotket - maybe get the Abit. Avoid the Iwill Slocket II - get the Iwill Slocket III, per the above link.

The Coppermine is a much improved CPU over the earlier P3 Katmai. It has a much improved L2 memory cache design which is very important. Your board requires a Coppermine designed for a 100 MHz system bus.

Contrary to what was said above, you don't have to worry about the stepping of the CPU if you are not going to overclock.

There are many different P3 processors. See:

I finally have the definitive answer on the slotkets. I had a couple borderlined 566 @ 850. They would not post at 850 / 1.7v on either the Abit!!! slotket or the Iwill II. They would however boot and run windows on the Msi 6905 master at the same voltage, although I had to raise the voltage finaly to 1.75 to stabilize.
I then went on to test some of my better chips that had some headroom in them, that I knew would go higher than 850. Although they would boot at 850 on the Abit and Iwill, I found that they took anywhere from .05 to .1 more voltage, than on the MSI and would not overclock as high. :Q
There is absolutely nothing to decide, get the MSI. Forget what the reviews say. I've got way more tests done than just one review or two, enough to see the consistency that comes from testing several hundred CPU's.

Damn, no place local to pick up an MSI slotket for me... looks like onvia is gonna be getting more money from me..

Slotket's are one thing I tend to buy a couple of to test and to have extra... Unfortunatley, i've used my extra's on spare systems for my aunt and sister, and am in need of a "spare" one. :)
