does the type of slotket really matter when it comes to overclocking? if i get a brand version slotket instead of a generic, will i be able to overclock higher? any suggestions on what a good slotket is if this is the case, tia.

For me...switching from Abit Slotket III to MSI 6905 v2.4 yielded like 8 more mhz but at 0.5Volts LESS with my Celeron 566. I was at 892(8.5x105)at 1.85V to 901(8.5x106) at 1.80V. I could take it to 910mhz but i didn't see any difference between that and 901 ..so I just left it at 901. I'm using an Alpha PEP66 w/ delta 38cfm fan by the way. I didn't see dramatic differences but other people on this forum has seen better results than I have. Get a quality name brand slotket.

when the price difference between generic crap($8) and premium stuff(MSI for $11), go for the premium/name brand one..

You can get the MSI for cheap from onvia right now.
