Slotket Question..Need an Ocl'er's L33T Skillz

I've done some research and it seems a majority of you guys believe that the best slotket is either Asus or MSI. This is where my problem comes in can you overclock a processor and use any brand of motherboard? I'm looking to buy a really cheap bx based mobo.

since you'r talking of slockets then I assume that you're referring to o/clocking an intel fc-ppga cpu.
the m/board must support fsb overclocking at minimum. voltage tweaking is also a desirable extra!
