Can anyone make some suggestions on quality ones? I have a Coppermine 500 that would like a partner on a new board. I like Asus, Abit, MSI. I want stability more than anything.

Thanks

Well First off bro, In order to have a good stable SMP system your going to need the same stepping Cpu's ie;(Matching Cpu's) Bought at the sametime. Having Mitch match cpu's may work and may not work but doing it right the first time like buying 2 of the same Cpu's at the sametime. then your going to have to move to either Win2k or Linux Operating system. Now you need a good motherboard, if you have SLot Cpu's then I would chase the Dual Slot BX Motherboard most likely the Asus p2B-DS or the Tyan Tiger 100, If you purchase 2 socket 370 cpu's then i would chase either the MSI dual Socket, Abit VP6 or the Epox EP-D3VA. All these Motherboards mentioned are reasonably priced around 160 dollars and cheaper if you look in the right places, (do a search on pricewatch.com) and have enough stability to keep you going threw the day.

Thanks for the feedback Remedy.

The Tyan looks to be an able board.

I was planning on purchasing another P3 Coppermine of the same speed/type. You are saying that isn't going to work? I have some trouble believing that. Win2K is no problemo, as I'm running Adv Server on that machine right now.

Anyone else think that I can't just buy another identical cpu?
