Slot or flip?

Hi, I have an Abit BH6 ver.1.1 slot1 motheboard. I was going to upgrade to a P3-700 or 750. Should I get the slot1 cpu or the flip chip & the adapter? Is one any better than the other?

Thanks, Rhonda

Well, I'm not sure which is better overclocking wise etc, but atleast if you get the flip chip and adapter, you can maybe upgrade to a really good socket mobo.

Overclockers.com has an online database of overclocks. You might give it a look and see how well the slot version performs if you plan on overclocking.

Well I would stay with the slot1 CPU if that is what your board is for but make sure you can change the core voltage on you motherboard. The slotkit might allow you to adjust the core voltage independent of the motherboard in which case an FCPGA is an asset if you don't have the capability on your board.

yup. i think you should get a flip chip with a slotket, as you will be able to adjust core voltages beyond the 1.3v - 1.7v range of bh6.

IMHO - Go with the FCPGA @700 with slotket and be sure to get the cCO stepping if possible. As far as O/C you probably won't get any difference between Slot1 and FC but the slotket will give you Vcc adjustment capability if needed. The slot 1's will be slowly going by the wayside. You will have more choices in the future for the Flip Chip.

FCPGA with the MSI or Iwill slocket 2 . Make sure it's the SL45Y. You'll be find with the stock heatsink and Fan @933 🙂
