Slot Loaded DVD Drive

Haven't seen these in a while. I know Pioneer made them before, but not anymore. I still got one of those slot load 16X DVD ROM, but its wonky after a long usage.

Pioneer still makes slimline/notebook slot loaders. Fullsize ones are no more, at least not over here in Europe.

Slot-load was kind of a fad. I'm surprised that the Sony PS3 uses it. Reviews seemed to indicate that with high-speed discs, tray drives were better.

You may be able to find the Plextor PX-716AL around. AxionTech claims to be In Stock on them at $170. some dollars - but the listing seems to read 716A in most places - the 716A is NOT the same as the 716AL. And I see there is one new one up for bid on eBay.
